Admission Criteria for HIV/AIDS
  • CD4+ Count < 25 cells/mcl, or persistent viral load > 100,000 copies/ml plus at least one of the following:
  1. CNS Lymphoma
  2. Wasting (loss of 33% lean body mass)
  3. Mycobacterium avium complex bacteremia untreated/refused
  4. Progressive multi-focal leukoenecephalopathy
  5. Systemic lymphoma
  6. Visceral Kaposi's sarcoma unresponsive to therapy
  7. Renal failure in the absence of dialysis
  8. Crytosporidium infection
  9. Toxoplasmosis
  • Karnofsky score of 50 or less
Supporting Documentation:
  1. Chronic, persistent diarrhea for one year
  2. Persistent serum albumin < 2.5
  3. Concomitant, Active Substance Abuse
  4. Age > 50
  5. Absence of retroviral, chemotherapeutic, and prophylactic drug therapy related specifically to HIV disease
  6. Advanced AIDS dementia complex
  7. Congestive heart failure, systemic at rest
